Reading Comprehension: Students will learn to ask and answer questions about key details in a text including identifying characters, settings and major events in a story. With prompting and support, students will learn to compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in familiar stories. |

Writing: Using a combination of dictating and writing, students will compose opinion pieces in which they identify and then state a preference for a topic. For narratives, students will learn to describe a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened. |
Students can expect homework and weekly quizzes. Grades will be given. |

is designed to provide instruction aligned with California's COMMON CORE State Standards including emphasis on word problems involving estimation and geometry. Students will understand place value and number relationships in addition and subtraction. They will also classify shapes and see relationships among them by paying attention to their geometric attributes. This group class involves lectures, weekly quizzes, a mid-term and final exam. Homework will be assigned. |
