is a small group class that provides instruction aligned with the California's COMMON CORE State Standards in the following areas: |
Reading Comprehension: Students will learn to ask and answer questions about key details in a text including identifying characters, settings and major events in a story. With prompting and support, students will learn to compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in familiar stories. |
Writing: Using a combination of dictating and writing, students will compose opinion pieces in which they identify and then state a preference for a topic. For narratives, students will learn to describe a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened. |
Students can expect daily homework and weekly quizzes. Grades will be given. |
